ISTE Day 3

Today I had the awesome opportunity to attend several lab sessions presented by Intel. I was completely unaward of Intel's efforts and resources regarding education. Intel offers free (yes I said FREE!) professional development for educators. The professional development can be done on-line, face to face, or using their software. They are curently offering two Element Courses. In the lab today, I got a chance to complete modules in these course offerings. They were wonderful! For more information see their website at www.intel.com/teachers

ISTE Day 2

June 29, 2010

The highlight of the conference for me today was visiting the SMART exhibitor's booth. I had the opportunity to actually experience the SMART Table. I loved it! It is a true technology tool for collaboration. The price has gone down from $8,000 to $6,500. Now I am in search of grants that can help me to purchase at least one for my school.

I also talked with different vendors about professional development options.

I attended a session by Adam Bellow, the creator of EduTecher. He provided several innovative free resources. Check out his website at: www.eduTecher.net

ISTE Day 1

June 28, 2010
On Monday, the first workshop I attended was A Digital Platform:Identifying and Analyzing Literary Elements of Realistic Fiction. This workshop was absolutely wonderful. The presenter was Kelly Crowley. She explained how she read a novel aloud to her fourth graders and modeled how to use various technology tools to demonstrate comprehension. Then she put the students in small groups. The small groups read copies of novels on their level. Kelly then guided them using the same technology tools they used as a whole class. The students later read novels individually and independently used the technology tools. Here are some of the resources that she used:
